Looking for a new, great book to read while seeking shelter from crazy Chicago weather this year? Check out any of the amazing books listed below. Whether you are looking are looking for a good laugh, a book sure to inspire you, or an interesting way to spend your commute, we have a list for you.
.) Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. This is a book that takes you inside the life of a man whose ambition and constant pursuit of perfection revolutionized everything from personal computers to phones to publishing.
.) Killing Yourself to Live: 85% of a True Story by Chuck Klosterman. The author of the 2003 novel Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs writes a new book in which he expands upon a feature he originally wrote for Spin magazine about his experience visiting rock and roll death sites. Throughout this page turning novel, he insightfully gives his take on music, rock stars, life, death, relationships and everything in between.
.) The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion. Didon documents the death of her husband’s death and her state of mind the year after. Although she details some heartbreaking scenes, she tells them in such a way that you leave the book feeling inspired rather than depressed and grateful to be included in such insightful moments.
.) Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell. Throughout this book, Gladwell attempts to answer the question of what makes the most successful and famous people different. What are the secrets behind their success? Are there secrets, or are they successful just because of pure coincidence and luck?
.) Live From New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Lives, as Told By Its Stars, Writers and Guests by Tom Shales and James Andrew Miller. This books gives you a first hand take behind the scenes of almost 30 years worth of memories of backstage gossip to the competitive and often drug-fueled process of creating the weekly, 90-minute, live comedy show. Publishers Weekly summed the book up perfectly, referring to Live From New York as a “guilty-pleasure page-turner from start to finish.”
